My Brinsea 7 egg incubator has been wonderful for 3yrs...used 3 times. Today in about an hour, we will be on DAY 1 of 6 chicken eggs incubating. All the eggs have the 'holes' in them and we can hear chirping.

THE BRINSEA IS MALFUNCTIONING!!! The temp alarm woke us up and temp was like 102. After some fidgeting, checking the settings (they were the same), plugging in and out, etc....it's showing temps ALL OVER THE PLACE. Like every 2 seconds the temp screen flickers a different temp..now, we're going from 98 to 100 to 99 too 100.6. It's crazy. Do the chickens need higher temps like this on last day? I cannot remember this happening last year!!

I am going to try and CALL Brinsea but if I cannot fix this or reach them. I NEED A BACKUP PLAN!!!

What about a small Coleman cooler with a heat lamp over it? I have one of those red ones. How do you do the humidity part?

PLEASE HELP!!! I HOPE TO COME BACK HERE AFTER SOME PHONE CALLS AND FIND SOME HELP.

THNKS!!! THIS SUCKS WHEN THEY ARE ALMOST THERE!!

Really? 5 hours has passed and 14 views on this thread and nobody replied. Wow. Nobody had ANY help for me.

I thought FOR SURE that SOMEBODY WOULD HELP ME.

Not even a suggestion? THANKS

You can try to reset to factory settings. I can tell you how I do it on my Octagon 20 and hope it works the same way. Unplug the incubator. Press all 3 buttons - "OK", "+" and "-" at the same time while you plug in the incubator. When it makes a beeping sound, release the buttons and let it reset. Check it when it's done to see if it seems to be working better and then set the humidity setting you want. I hope this helps and good luck!

As long as the temp does not get too high for too long, you should be fine. You will do more damage by opening the incubator and losing humidity than you will with temperature fluctuations at this point. Where are you now with this and has the incubator stabilized yet?

keep the temp under 103 even if that means setting the temp lower. unstable temp between 98 and 101 isn't going to hurt as that's air temp the chick is probably around 99 which is a good hatch temp (some people drop the temp 1 degree during hatch). Humidity is the main concern during this stage so just try to nurse the incubator until they hatch.
