Impacted crops or something else?

Hope everyone makes it through the cold weather.
Same. We lost 2 birds Wednesday night to the cold already, really am tired of losing ones. Always the ones we really like too. Tonight was supposed to be the coldest if the snap, so fingers crossed that Blondie, Chloe and Gilly make it through this okay and can go back to their flock once the weather's better.

I'll try to get images tomorrow and see if I can get a video something if Billy's feet still are solid. Honestly never say anything like it before, thought she just had a clump of poop frozen over her back toes and then she couldn't bend anything

I can't imagine that kind of cold. I know that at some point their organs can be damaged. It's good you brought the youngsters inside.

Do they roost on rafters? If they have 2x4s and can roost on the wide side, they can keep their feet warm more easily.
That's about the extent of my knowledge of cold weather chicken keeping.

Hope the frozen feet recover.

Yeah, this particular flock roost in the rafters of the barn. One group is in the rabbit roon, one is in the horse area and the main group they join when laying is back by the other bird stalls. Usually we lose a toe or twp, but never this.

Okay, so Miss Gilly got a little better over night. Most of one foot is unthawed and the other is about 1/2 way. I did notice she's got a blister or something though now on one foot that wasn't there last night.

Blondie (the 1st) is seeming a bit lethargic today, but perks up when she's handled, so she's back on watch, thinking (translate: hoping) it's just from being bored inside.

We just lost Blondie. She had just passed when I found her, and she was still limp. Her crop felt empty though, which means that she hadn't been eating this morning and had just been pecking. The white one with her is fine still, but probably rather upset her buddy is gone.

Planning to open her up in a few hours after my brothers friends are gone
