Impatient is my middle name!

I have 20 3-week old silkie chicks and 20 day-old welsummer's arriving next week....But, I CAN'T WAIT to start getting eggs! I'm chomping at the bit, eventhough I know it's months away! Maybe i should get some older pullets... I'm sure my hubby would love that! HA!
Is anyone else out there with their first batch of babies as inexplainable excited as me?
The worst part is...these are my daughters' 4-h projects - not even my birds!

Ah, I remember that feeling. We decided to start with an already laying flock. After we brought them home the didn't lay for weeks. My first batch of chicks was torture! And don't even get me started on Silkies! I have some now that are almost a year old and they haven't laid yet Good luck!

I'm so excited... I don't think I could make it a whole year without getting at least one egg!
