Imprinting

I’ve read before that letting a duckling imprint on you can be cruel because you have to be there to raise it as it’s mother would. Is that only true for wild or single ducklings? Or is it also true for domestic ducklings that will live with other ducks? How do you prevent ducklings hatched in an incubator from imprinting on you?

It is true for all birds where a single baby is raised alone from hatch. When there is more than one baby they imprint on each other.
