Hi!
I am going to be incubating anywhere from 6-12 call duck eggs in a few days. I know that ducks imprint on the first thing they see.
I am really hoping they will imprint on me and follow me around like the videos ive seen on Youtube. So, If i have half a dozen ducklings hatching, won't they imprint on eachother and not me since they see their siblings first? i'm going to be watching while they hatch, but i wont be inside the incubator. Should i put little cardboard divders up inside the hovabator when they start to hatch so they cant see eacother until i've held them for a while?
Thanks!

Im new to ducks and I bought 4 at TSC, and Im the one that feeds and waters them, and when I take them outside as I keep them inside in a rabbit hutch....when we go outside...I put them down in the yard and I start walking all the way to the back where my chicken coops are and they follow there and back...the stay close to me as I go from coop to coop.

I had a couple that followed me around the classroom. I also had one that I took to school and it followed me from my classroom, across the cafeteria, though the main office and back across the cafeteria and then down to another teacher's classroom quacking as it went. It was after school, so there were no kids there to see it. I thought it was pretty cool.

Unless you will keep them separated for days or weeks after they hatch- they will still bond as a group to some extent. The best way to keep them seeing you as mom is having them with you as much as possible- moving the brooder to where you are- cooking- washing dishes- watching tv- helping kids with homework- housework ( not all these might be things you do- but I think you get what I mean ) move the brooder box around with you where ever you go and they will be inclined to see you as the mother.

Thanks for the replies!
