So, I bought 3 'hens' in April to start my backyard egg laying endeavor....so, here we are in mid-June and I discover that my favorite 'hen' is indeed a cock! So sad because I cannot keep him as I am in city limits. He has started crowing in earnest so I have had to remove him from the hen house and into my bathroom! He is the sweetest thing, so I would love to find him a good home to go to live outside city limits but have come up empty in my search! I have called the place where I got the chicks (JAX), Larimer County Extension of CSU, Craigs List (last choice), and today will go to the humane society. Any suggestions of farms that would like a beautiful grey Black-barred Rock? He is so sweet natured too, it breaks my heart. I am afraid of cock fighting organizations and slaughter, but not sure what else to do? Cannot keep him shut up in my bathroom much longer poor guy.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, there isn't any real use for a BR rooster other than the obvious. If you put him on CL for $5, he will be gone but he will be dinner. There was someone on one of the FR CL sites that takes unwanted chickens but I don't believe they take roosters.

Welcome and come introduce yourself on the CO thread.

Thank you. Yes, I am finding out that there is not really any place for the poor guys! Too bad because he is really a sweet guy!
