Greetings from Kansas, mrsdowell, and ! Yuck! That looks like some type of worm. You might try posting over in this link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures if it is a worm there are some treatment options. Good luck to you!
