In my opinion the worst chicken killer is...

You realize that poor chicken is really traumatized by being used as bait, and it is now going to need expensive therapy. I hope you have a good chicken psychiatrist.

I'll ignore one obvious thing and ask a question instead, how far away and was there any chance that there was a water connection between where you let it go and where it came from?

Mink are very good at finding their way back to their home territory via water.

Good now there is an 21 mile distance between the brook that runs across my property and a good sized river, if I was to place a mink from here at the end of the river 21 miles from here that mink would be able to find its way back with no trouble at all. Just thought you should know.

Mink routinely travel up to 10 - 12 miles in a day. Relocating (meaning dumping your problem off on someone else) is illegal in most states, and NOT the humane thing that some people think it is. Mink are very territorial, and will fight and often kill a stranger in their territory. I have fought with the mink clan for decades, and have come to know that they are never "cute", but rather bloodthirsty killers. Thank God that they are not the size of a Labrador Retriever, or humans would be prey.
