We are eagerly awaiting to see who lays and egg. We have 1 hen who is insistent on being in the nesting box ,scratching around and chases the little ones out if they try to come in the coop. But it seems to be taking forever...an hour so far...is this normal...is she trying to lay an egg?

How old is she?
I have some hens that do take a while to lay, especially if they are first time layers.

I think this is just normal behavior but if it continues and she lays no eggs she might be eggs bound.
