Looking for someone in Walnut Creek, CA area who might want to thin their flock by 1 or 2 hens. Less than 3 yrs old would be preferable. My single chicken is lonely and don't have time to raise new chicks until Spring - may not even be able to find any at this point anyway!
Backstory:
Sadly, I lost one of my two chickens to the extreme heat over the weekend in Walnut Creek, CA. She seemed fine earlier in the day. Put all sorts of cooling things in coop, let her find shade for part of the day. Coop was shaded when I put them back inside. Put ice in water and some watermelon chunks. So sad! Only had two chickens in my flock because I wanted to add 2 to my previous 2...but one of the pullets ended up being a rooster and had to get rid of it. Then one of my 5 year olds became lame and we had to cull it.
