I lost 2 chickens and a rooster to a coyoty last weekend. I found one other girl in the tall grass the next day. She didn't seem hurt, just scared. I put her back in the hen house with the remainning two girls. She is still alive but won't get up, won't eat ( I have seen her walk once in a week). I don't know what to do...is she still scared or is she in pain. I don't want to let her go, but I don't want her to suffer.

She could have internal bleeding, but I would think she would have gone downhill within the first day or two of the attack.

I haven't heard of shock lasting a whole week, so I'm thinking it is probably something else. I'd examine her inch by inch to make sure she doesn't have injuries of any kind.

I don't know if you've done this or not, but try a bit of scrambled egg or yogurt, she may be more responsive.

If you know she is in pain and you want to treat her, you can use baby aspirin in water. I'm not sure of the dosage, though, I'm afraid.

I hope someone comes along who can help more

Best luck with her!

My chicks were mauled by my dog. Lost one - two in shock - one worse than the other - no bleeding. I applied water every couple of hours and the next morning feed watery chick starter every hour along with water. Glad to say both are really doing well and eating and drinking on their own - the one who was worse - still slightly wobbly but really is much better and walking fine most of the time. Since she is eating and drinking on her own I don't think I need to spoon feed her -
Hope your birds are better.
