I recently started hatching quail and other poultry in 2 incubators. Recently I bought quail eggs from another person and they are currently hatching. Yesterday one quail hatched with curled toes and today another one hatched with curled neck and toes. Could this be a sign of inbreeding from the person I bought the eggs or is this something else?

It's possible that it's genetic, but it could also be that your humidity was too high during incubation. There are other factors as well, such as whether the parents were on an ideal diet or not.
I don’t think it was my humidity i incubate dry and only pick up the humidity on once the lockdown starts. Sadly I don’t know anything about the parents.

Genetics, nutrition, and sometimes just the statistics of raising anything (a certain percentage of neonates are born with or die from a genetic or developmental abnormality and you can't do anything to prevent or fix it). If it is greater than 10% of the batch affected, nutrition or genetics is definitely a possibility but if it is just an odd chick here and there, likely just a freak thing. I once saw a goat (one out of twenty) that aborted twin fetuses with obvious thyroid issues (iodine deficiency) but the others goats were fine, apparently this doe wasn't helping herself to the mineral block!

Okay thank you! It’s only been 2 odd chicks out of 21 eggs I’m hoping I don’t get anymore odd ones.
