My hens started laying, four eggs in four days. They have now gone three days with nothing. Is this normal?

One egg a day four days. four BCMs, 18weeks old. Giveing them the last of some finisher and some scratch with oyster shell free choice, they also free range two to four hours a day. P.S they love the compost pile4 eggs each day? Or 1 egg a day for 4 days?
How many hens do you have and how old?
What do you feed? Do they free range?
Do you give them oyster shell free choice?
Sorry for so many questions but the answers will help us to help you.![]()
Thanks, I have layer feed but didn’t want to start it to early. I’ll start mixing it in.Ok.. you may have only a hen or two laying and just getting started. So what you're seeing is pretty normal. Also look around and make sure they aren't laying while free ranging. Egg hunt is a favorite game of theirs and they are darn good at it. Lol
Go easy on the scratch. Think of it as candy. So just a little as a treat.
The compost pile is a great place for them to scratch and fins goodies..
You may want to feed them an all flock or layer feed, but transition them by mixing their current feed with new feed until the other is gone.
Hopefully they will be laying regularly soon.![]()
