hi, today is day 16 since I have been incubating chicken eggs. I started off with 10 eggs and ended up with 3 eggs. Some of them died during the incubating period and some were infertile. Something I noticed from the beginning was that, I started candling my eggs as soon as they were 2 days old, on day 2 I was told that u were supposed to see the yolk getting darker but I saw the opposite, I saw a tiny darker spot in the middle of the eggs, on day 3 u are supposed to see the embryo tiny veins but i just saw the embryo getting darker, and on day 4 the embryo was supposed to look bigger right? well when i candled my eggs i saw a tiny embryo forming, to me, it looked like my eggs were behind. its day 16 today and i have 2 days left till lockdown. i candled them they look big and more than half of the egg is dark and u can see some veins near the air sac. I dont know if i should wait till day 19 to set them on lockdown? is this supposed to be normal or am i just overreacting?i just really want these chicks to hatch. the temperature ranges were from 36 to 39 and the humidity is at 40-50 %.

They're mixed breeds. This isn't the first time I have hatched chicken eggs, on my last batch u could clearly see an embryo and veins on day 3! That's why I'm concerned.
My eggs are from a mixed hen and a Vorwerk rooster.

Just leave them be. Lock them down and do not touch them unless it’s past day 21. Chicks know what to do.

Good luck with everything
