Incubating chicks question

I built my own incubator and now I need to sharpen my skills on incubating.Was wondering how many hatch with eggs standing up. My neighbor is getting near 90% on pheasants with them sitting up straight for the entire growing and hatching stage. Was wondering if anyone here does this>

Make sure your temp is correct and stable and don’t hatched shipped eggs (you can still get good hatch rates but it could also be a disaster through no fault of your own!), everything else is pretty forgiving!

I use an automatic turner where the eggs are positioned pointy side down and are slowly rocked back and forth during that stage if incubation. For lockdown I remove the automatic turner and lay them on their sides.

Many automatic turners have the eggs laying down and roll them. I've seen people on the forum stand the eggs up during lockdown, usually by cutting up an egg carton to remove most of the parts around the eggs to give the chick more room to pip and zip.

Some people that hand turn lay the eggs down and roll them when they turn them. Some people put the eggs in cartons pointy side down and put a block under one end of the carton and move that block to the other end of the carton when they turn them. Others use different methods.

All these people typically get pretty good hatches. The important thing is that the eggs get turned when they need it and are stable when they do not need to be turned.
