Can you incubate duck and chicken eggs together? I want to try to hatch some ducks, but I have some chicken eggs coming in the mail. I don't have a full bator right now and thought to put in maybe 6 duck eggs.
Will this be ok or not?
I have a hovabator 1602N with turner..
Please let me know...

Yes, you can do both...I put 6 duck eggs in and a week later when my chicken eggs came in I added them and all hatched around the same time so the humidity increase didn't hurt any of them....Try to start the duck eggs a week earlier because Ducks need 28 days but can take as long as 35 and chickens only need 21...Good Luck!!

Most duck eggs take from 26 to 28 days, muscovies take 35 days. I've incubated them together before, and the 'higher' humidity for the ducks (usually about 50%) doesn't seem to affect the chickens.

The only issue I had was that the ducks really kicked the chicken eggs around after they hatched. They are fairly large. I am not sure if I would have had a better hatch without their help.
