Hello ALL!!! I'm excited to be a new BYC member!! I am a seasoned chick grower....when they are a day or two old when I first get them. I now have found myself to have only big, fat, lazy hens that won't brood ;) I am going to hatch my own. I am soooo excited but I want to make sure that I do things right!! I will be turning the eggs by hand. Thanks to everyone!!!

Lots of people get silkies as they are real broody machines- you could put other breed eggs under them and bypass incubators. Mama hens know best. There are other breeds as well they frequently go broody.
