I got a Genesis 1588 incubator with automatic turner and pre-set temp to hatch silkie eggs I'm buying. This is my first incubation experience ever... any suggestions or links? Anybody have experience using this incubator? Hatching suggestions? Should I do a test run first with some of my Silkie / Cochin cross eggs to make sure the incubator is running good??
If you get eggs from another bird, can you set them under a broody hen? Or will they peck them/ eat them because they don't recognize the scent?
Once the silkies are hatched, can I put them with one of my hens? She's hatched chicks out and raised them before, but I don't know if she'd be accepting of them? Just wondering.
Anyone have Silkie / Cochin cross pictures?
