I candled my eggs a little while ago and in the largest egg, it looks like 2 chicken babies. WTH?? I have never gotten a double yolker out of my girls but it could happen because these eggs are HUGE. Is this a semi common occurance? Will it hatch?

it wont hatch

the egg will be too small for 2 chicks and they will die

also if they make it to day 21 they wont be able to zip as both with clash with each other

that's why egg size is advised at aprox. 58 grams

anything bigger should be asses carefully before setting

Well that's extremely disappointing..........

I have read a few success stories of hatching twins, but they will need help if they make it far enough to hatch. More often, if either, only one will make it the distance. Might as well keep it going and hope!

I was just binging a search fortwin chicks, and it is very rare! Since there is good veining so far, I'm just going to wait it out and see!

I've actually watched a bunch of Youtube videos of someone hatching a double-yolker. I think its worth trying if you are experienced! I would google the heck out of it though and find out what should be done for a successful hatch.

I have a double yolked e/e that is pipped and 3/4 zipped right now. Its an odd zip because only the external shell is broken, not yet the internal membrane but both babies are still moving. I am taking that as a good sign. I already have experience with semi-successful assisted hatching and knew what I was signing up for. If you are comfortable with it, i say go for it! You'll never know if you don't try. I homeschool so for me this was an easy decision, either way it is a great biology lesson.
