Incubation egg pricing question

Why are incubation eggs as much or more expensive than just getting the chicks? That's what I've been finding. I'm new to all this so this my be a stupid question.

The more expensive eggs are from hard to find varieties and often are from very good quality parent stock...unlike most of the chicks you'll get from the hatcheries.
