Incubation Recipe

Yep, the "OUT" reading is the probe reading on the thermometer.

I'd let the water weasel 'ride' on the turner if it will do so without falling off or causing issues with your turner.

Ideally you are measuring temps at the level of the top of the eggs.

This incubating stuff will drive you to distraction. I work from home and have the incubator with my silky eggs in it right here on my desk. I sit and watch that 'OUT' reading all blessed day long.

I also 'clear' the readings about once a day. It helps to check the max and min readings to make sure your bator isn't spiking out of range.

Also, I would reset it as I made my calibration adjustments. I'd make a slight adjustment, wait until the 'OUT' reading was in the correct range of temps and then reset the Min/Max. That way I'd know in a couple hours exactly how high and low the adjustment made the temp.

Have fun!!

Had the base of it in the brooder with the chicks, they filled it full of bedding. I don't know how the did that.

You need to give it a long time for the weasel to come up to temp, just like an egg's contents would take a while to come up to near air temperature. There would not be that much difference unless it hasn't reached temp in the weasel or the weasel is in a colder area.

Just a suggestion - you may want to plug your bators into a good surge protector. Also, a jar full of warm water placed inside the incubator helps to keep temperatures steady. I put mine right in the middle between the rows of the turner.

Actually, hot makes the humidity too high and spikes the temps too. I'd say try to make the water as close to the temp of the bator as possible. I used to use one of those floating fish tank therm. to check the water temp before adding it to the tank. I think I'll do the same thing for the water in the bator.
