Incubation time limit

How long past 21 days should you keep eggs in incubator that haven't pipped?

Some people say day 26, I've never had one hatch past 23.

I feel like an awful chicken mommy. I had 7 eggs in the bator ( 1st time) 6 pipped and hatched between day 19-21. One left.... waited day 22 day 23..... no pip. I've been candling it seemed to progress with the others,I received the egg from a friend, it was an Americauna. Odd shaped very long and pointy but tried anyway. I candled at day 23 and saw no movement.

I should've left it in my son was curious if it was even fertilized so he cracked it to check.

there was a fetus in it. I was so sad!!'n

At day 23 if it wasn't breathing when he broke the egg, it was already dead. So don't feel bad.
