Is it ok to make an incubator out of one of these plastic storage bins? The one I have is purple and made of heavier plastic than the ones in the picture.

Also...how do you turn eggs...?

Its going to be hard to keep a steady temp in that without any insulation, it can be done, but a styrofoam ice chest works great & they are cheep, the Omaha steaks ice chest works the best of any i have found.

You could hand turn the eggs or you can buy an egg turner. All you would have to do is figure out how to get the cord for the turner through the plastic. I am sure if you do a search on home made incubators you would find lots of ideas.

Alright we got most of the incubator built. We're putting in the thermostat switch, ventilation holes, and viewing window tomorrow. Saturday we're going to a show and planning on getting a dozen eggs. But I still don't know how to hand turn the eggs.

No. The Styrofoam or Ice box is much better choice. You will have hard time keep the stable with the plastic bin. There are many folk also use the aquarium.
