Incubator got unplugged for 9 hours 😭😭😭

Yup, I worked as as electrician for 6 years and took 4 years of school for my journeyman before the 08 crash and I left the trade. I just never looked up how much my little incubator uses and realize that heat uses more than most would think. I live in Florida, so we would get more than 5 hours but understand that I would need to store a lot more than 27 AH and do have that ability. I need to dig out my watt meter and see what its actual usage is to know for sure.

Out of curiosity, did you have a chance to check with the watt meter? I'm off grid and deciding whether or not it's worth it to get an incubator. My home is powered with a Goal Zero Yeti 3000 with 8 100w 12v solar panels. I just have no idea how much power an incubator draws.

Not yet but I will try and locate it tonight and post my findings.

OK, so it's been on for a bit and I'm getting 0.092 kWh for the Kebonnixs 12.
The fan is 4W
The fan and heater is 19.2W
Far less than I anticipated.

Yes! We have 4 of them. We had surprise pups between our Shar Pei and Ridgeback after covid hit the fan.

Ok so I have a similar question - in my case, the incubator wasn't unplugged and we didn't lose power. BUT!!!! I have had a few eggs hatch, and been taking the babies out to put them in the brooder (have about 30 eggs or so in the incubator - 6 have hatched so far). My question is - it seems like the eggs are not as warm as I would expect them to be and I had candled the eggs and the vast majority looked to be developed. If the temp got a little low for a few hours, and it comes back up - would this just delay some of those eggs from hatching? I think it's day 21/22 for most of them. There are some eggs that were set in a different incbuator 3-4 days later that were combined with the others in this incubator so I know they aren't ready just yet.

But I am wondering, since I have had 5 hatch (one as recently as a couple hours ago) there is still a chance that the rest should be ok, yes?

I would think so. That's not very long and they are able to go a few hours off heat without adverse effects. My eggs seem to hatch a day early, so I've never had any run late.
