Incubator help!

Hello, I have a homemade incubator made out of a Styrofoam cooler and a light Bulb, the incubator is reading at 102 right now and I’m wondering if that’s an OK temperature any help would be very much appreciated. Kind regards

hey! ideally, an incubator should be between 99.5 and 102 degrees. 100.5 is the ideal temperature you want to aim for. however, it's okay for it to be a little higher! i would try to not let it go above 102, however, because problems can occur with higher temperatures. also, you will need to make sure you have an adequate humidity level (i'm not sure if you have this because the incubator is homemade). but it sounds to me like you're doing all the right things. good luck!

Are you sure 100.5? Everything I see including literature with my incubator list 99.5 as the target. I would not want to be at 102 as an average. A few minutes is one thing but not a constant.

Thank you so much for the reply, I have a container of water for humidity, the temperature of the room I have it in drops a little at night so I’m hoping by keeping it at 102 it will drop to 99 at night, it got up to 107 for a few seconds but it has been a steady 102 now.

from everything i've been told or read, i've seen 100.5 as a target temperature. i wouldn't want 102 as the average either, like you, i advise 99-100.5. however i'm sure there are many debates on this, maybe you're right!
