I have a manual covutto cabinet incubator. I cannot seem to get the humidity increased enough ready for day 18 lockdown. I've hatched an earlier batch and a lot died in the shells and failed to pip. Does anyone have any tips? My chicks are due to hatch next Tuesday.

Thank you. Should I do this on day 18? Am I ok to open the incubator once a day to replenish the water during this time?

Get a separate hygrometer to measure humidity.

Some people use sponges to keep humidity constant.

For day 18 to 21 try to keep it from 60-70%

For days 0 to 17 the recommended humidity is 30-45%

You can open the incubator every day to add water to up humidity.

The only time it’s not recommended is if you see an external pip

Great that's really helpful. Got a hygrometer coming the post!
