well swab where the egg was with alcohol and smell for any eggs that smell bad, because that happened to me once, i had a duck blow up on me
I took and opened mine up just a minute ago. did one in the house BOOM rotten egg all over my shirt. I think a few days ago when my incubator got to high in humidity it caused all but one to rot. one egg had a fully formed chick in it. I knew one would. as the day it was high i kept hearing chirping but couldn't figure out which egg it was. and didn't feel right helping a chick out. I've helped in the past and it caused a chick to suffer for 2 days before dieing. Sometimes nature needs to take it's course.
All the other eggs were rotten and blowing up. Not cool.
I have new eggs. Hopefully they will do good. I am checking it every few minutes (though i shouldn't) to make sure that the incubator has the right humidity. I'm trying lower humidity this time. Last time I allowed it to go up to 60% This time i'm gunna try for 45% to 50% then at day 18 go up to 60%.
That seems like a lot rotten eggs, even with humidity issues. I wonder if the person you got the eggs from had washed the eggs before you got them, which could introduce bacteria into the egg. I also try not to handle the eggs too much, candling them only on the 7th and 14th day. Rotten eggs, yuch![]()
........ If I'd known that before I'd have put those eggs in the fridge to eat instead of trying to hatch them.
I know what you mean, you want good eggs from the start. Especially if you like me, I kinda get attached to those things once they're put in the incubator.
