I am building a incubator for the first time. Does the fan need to run continuously? Will it hurt for the turner to run for several minutes at a time? I am having a hard time finding a timer that will run for just a minute. And the last question, do I still need holes in side of box since I will be using a fan? Thanks for any advise given!!!

Oxygen is important for living things. It's imperative to have air holes, otherwise they'll suffocate.
It's best for the fan to run independent of the heat element so air doesn't stratify.
The turning isn't critical as long as the eggs settle in a different position 2 or more times a day.

What kind of timer do you use for the turner? I was thinking about attaching it to the light, but it would run fir several minutes at a time.

Just reread your comment. That helps a lot. Thank you chicken canoe....

this is a turner diagram I set up to work with a linear actuator and limit switches. it turns every 2 hours. parts are available at radio shack and www.surpluscenter.com

you can use a 110volt actuator and change the voltage to match.
