what is the best beginner incubator at a low cost and with automatic egg turners i am very new to chickens as i just got the first hens of my flock about 2 weeks ago and i do have a rooster i would love to start hatching and adding to my flock i also was wondering could my pullets that i would be hatching be able to breed with this rooster or do i need to get another one let me know what you think about the incubator thanks

My first incubator was one my daughter and I built from a styrofoam cooler according to instructions from BYC, and it worked great. I then moved up to the Brinsea Octagon 20 and now use the styrobator as a brooder for hatching.chicks. I've never used an automatic turner and personally think they are an unnecessary extravagance unless you are hatching eggs commercially, but to each his own. If you are simply interested in adding to your own flock and not breeding for show or specific genetic traits you could certainly use your existing rooster to fertilize your future eggs. What breed(s) do you have? Happy hatching!

i have a barred plymouth rock rooster and from freys hatchery so the last owner said they are dual purpose hens and i also have a little black hen i think she may be part silkie because of the tuff of feathers on the top of her head and im only 15 so i dont know much about building my own incubator and also how would i turn the eggs but also i have school then i get off the bus after school so im gone from 8 am to 5-6 pm would i still be able to turn my own eggs?
