hi

My daughter and I are planning to hatch some quails. We have everything we need including for when they are adults.

However after they hatch they stay in the incubator till dry. Is this incubator okay ?

Does the egg holder come out? If so, take it out at lockdown and cover the bottom with grippy shelf liner or textured paper towels. If not, I would be concerned that the chicks would fall through the holes.

I have the same incubator and it works pretty good.

First-be sure the thermostat sensor (wire that stand up) does not touch the dome; especially when it's wet as the internal temperature will be way off ( way too hot).

Second-the egg tray is not good for hatching quail as the chicks will get caught up in the tray and get hurt when they hatch. This is easy to correct. Cut wire mesh the diameter of the tray and use that instead of the egg tray that came with the incubator. Keep in mind that the wire sensor needs to be as close to the middle as possible and have it going up through the mesh. I am not sure of this, but the wire mesh may throw off the temperature if the sensor is touching metal-something to check out. Possibly plastic mesh would work better. GOOD LUCK!

This will not work with this incubator. There is a fan in the center that blows straight up. Anything solid will throw off the temperature. Mesh will allow the heat and air to circulate as needed and still provide the traction the quail chicks need at hatch time.

Thank you. That is perfect answer

The heater vent is right under it and it has a ditch tray next to that it will be hard to put liner maybe put it on the tray ? I have same model i ended uo incubating them inside a small egg carton inside the incubator and useing a water battle cap to drop water into to adjust the humidity just to get a hatch

i suggest buying a better one or test run it a few days before and figure out how to mess with all the little adjustments also buy some thermometers cuz the one on it isn't always right with the real heat i side also im in usa ca. I did about 40%-under 50% untill lock down were i did 50-65-67-68 around there for lock down cuz some times its hard to keep the humidity right with this incubator i used a straw through the hole in the top of the lid to deliver a drop or two at a time or less to adjust the humidity as needed

also don't open to turn i suggest using a book under one side at a time to turn
