Incubator

I have a homemade one and a kenmar digital one I purchased. Both have their pros and cons. J tend to use the digital ones to incubate and the other to hatch. But many of my friends LOVE their brinsea bators.

What’s your hatch rate?

Depends. I have been getting eggs shipped lately and I hatch serama which tend to be VERY finicky. But for eggs from my home flock so far the hatch rates have been about 60-70%. The shipped eggs have been about 40-50% which is pretty good for shipped eggs. The ones I lost from my home flock were all between days 8&15 so that probably has more to do with my flock than the bators.

If you only want to do a small amount of eggs the Brinsea mini II advance is wonderful. Easy to use. I hatched 7 out of 7 Serama chicks 3 weeks ago. I did buy a hygrometer to place inside to better monitor humidity.
