I noticed 2 of my hens with sunken eyes a few days ago but since they were going through severe molting I decided to just keep an eye on them. (No pun intended.)
As they started growing their new coats Kotàra's eyes looked much brighter but Grouchy's eyes remained sunken.
Yesterday Grouchy's left eye had a white foamy substance coming out of the front corner. (Sorry, I don't have pictures right now.) I called the vet yesterday but they don't have an opening until Saturday. I then asked them to have the docter call me as to what to do in the meantime. I have yet to hear anything.
After looking up these symptoms, it's pointing to Mycoplasmosis. Then after looking at pictures of chicken eyes with this desease it seems identical to Grouchy's eye. And seemingly going through a severe molting as well as being at the bottom of the pecking order, I'm sure she's going through a lot more stress than usual
So now I'm asking you guys what I can do to help her until I get to the vet's. I just feel that waiting until Saturday could cause irreparable damage.
