Infected, pusy, bloody, cord area. What can I put on it?

Hatched out a chick. It is walking around acting fine, but where it's cord was attached is nasty. It had the bubbles on it's belly, they looked hard so we figured they would just fall off. But yesterday evening the other chicks started chasing it around. They picked it until it was bleeding! We felt terrible, so we separated it from the others until it dried. Then this morning the chick itself must have started pecking at it, cause now that whole side of the box was covered in puss, on the cedar chips.

What can i put in this to keep it from getting more infected. I considered peroxcide but needed other opinions...please help..

Neosporin is okay as long as it doesn't have the pain killer added to it. That could harm the chick. You might try loosely wrapping the chick with some gauze so that the wound can heal but not be picked at. There is stuff available to put on the wound that will create a barrier over the wound but still let it breath, like NuSkin, but don't use that 'cause it stings. Check the BandAid Brand for a similar product

I would try to clean the area as best I could also with saline or iodine to help clear out any infection.

I wouldn't use anything to make it more moist.
I would clean it with peroxide or rubbing alcohol using a q tip a few times a day so it will dry up.

You might want to gause it if you think the chick is pecking at it. Are you feeding medicated feed ? If not you might want to give anibiotics in water since it is clearly infect (puss)
