I have a chicken that cut her foot a few days ago. We soaked it, cleaned it and sprayed with antibacterial spray. Seems to be healing fine but now today she is very lethargic and drinking a lot of water. I suspect she has an infection. I have treated with amoxicillin before but I currently only have Amoxicillin-Clav875 125mg. Has anyone treated an infection with this before. My closest vet is 200 miles away and it’s 4pm. Thank you!

Do you have photos of her and her foot?

Could she be having something else going on?

Drinking a lot of water is often an attempt to clear the crop/digestive system - what does her crop feel like?
When was her last egg?

Thank you for the reply! The foot looks good that’s why I was confused. She may have been trying to clear her crop like you said as she seems much better this morning. She was hiding next to the water with her eyes closed just constantly drinking and I assumed the worst. She is in the egg box this morning so I will keep an eye on her! Thank you again for the information I really appreciate the reply 😊

I'm glad she's better today. Did she lay an egg?

I'd check her crop to be sure it's emptying. With her drinking a lot of water, it's worth checking out for a few days.
