Just like to say a big thank you to all on this site who have been kind to help me with advise during all the problems I have been having with my flock

I had one problem after another with my pet chickens:

Scaly leg
Dog attack
Feather mites,
Fowl pox
Predator eating the chicks
and finally infectious Bronchitis.

I am glad to say that yet again all by birds have been strong and pulled through (except one). They are real tough guys.

I hope that this will be the end of problems for a while!

MY EXPERIENCE WITH INFECTIOUS BRONCHITIS IN MY BIRDS.

I think they caught it from wild birds entering the run or while free ranging.
The disease spread so quickly with all the birds getting ill in less that 3 days.
The worst affected had great difficulty breathing and looked really bad - but they were the ones to make the quickest recovery!
The less affected birds took longer to recover and also tended to stop eating for a day or two and loose weight.
Strangely, the young chicks and pullets were not affected at all (even through they are with the rest of the flock.

Now all the chickens are fully recovered excepts one. She was the last hen to contract the disease and she has come down with it the worst. Her breathing is has been bad for 4 days now and she is loosing weight. She also is the only bird that got sinus and eye problems with the disease. One side of her head is swollen, forcing her eye shut. I clean the eye 2 times a day and it will then open. It looks fine, but is watery.

I hope she will also recover soon.

My poor birds have been through so much!

Thanks again everyone.
