I have kept coturnix quail for a number of years and have hatched many eggs to keep my stock young and get different bloodlines. Last year I hatched a batch of eggs out that were shipped to me, 8 out of 12 eggs hatched but one was very weak and wobbly I really thought he wasn't going to make it, it was touch and go for a while with him but he recovered and is now a fully grown adult male with 6 girls all to himself! he is small for a quail but other than that he is healthy and is acting normally and showing no signs of ever having been ill. Now I guess it wouldn't be such a good idea to hatch eggs from him but he is my only male, the last two batches I have tried to hatch no eggs have developed at all even though he is producing foam, mating and calling, initially I thought I tried too early in the year but I waited for a good few weeks and tried again and nothing still, do they still produce foam if infertile? I have now got some new eggs from another seller shipped to me, but just curious.

6 girls is spreading him pretty thin.3 would seem like a better ratio.Throw another male in and give him some competition..cva34
