Info on color ?

I asked this question in the regular marans thread and didn't get an answer.. maybe you guys can help

I have what I've called a "blue copper splash" rooster - this is my own barnyard lingo.. maybe you can help me with a technical name for his color.. and He has two blue splash hens.. my chicks are here and they all came out looking like basic splash chicks, but now some are changing to a smoky blue with some splashing.. Will these smoky chicks have dad's color?


The reading shows splash X splash = splash
My rooster is out of two blue coppers and has the copper splashes with blue splashes
My hens are both out of splash parents



Any help or info appreciated..

Chances are pretty good that they will get come of the copper colouring from papa. Yes, splash X splash = splash.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have 2 chicks out of 36 that appear blue with a few splash feathers at 4 weeks now. I'm excited to see if they will be the ones who display the copper feathering.. they have been a darker hue from hatching.
