Broad Breasted, not so much. Generally short life due to weight.Today I am getting some white turkeys and I need to know if they are good pet turkeys..i love turkeys almost as much as i love chickens thay are so lovable!
I hear they can have a short life due to tasteI am soooooo tickled to read this. I have an order in for Midget Whites and will be getting them in another couple weeks. I DO want to select out a nice looking male and couple females for future hatches. Looking forward to it.
Quote: I HAD to come over and responde to this response because I read it in my email alert and of course it doesn't post the smilies. REALLY?? I thought this was serious and wondered how could their taste effect their lifespan? I must be nutz.
Hello newbie, good luck with your new babies. Did you get to watch the PBS special "My Life As A Turkey" about a nature guy who raised a basketful of eggs to wild turkeys? and to about a year old. It was so awesome and interesting. Thats what told me I had to get some turkeys. I loved that show.Today I am getting some white turkeys and I need to know if they are good pet turkeys..i love turkeys almost as much as i love chickens thay are so lovable!
So seriously, I know nothing of turkeys and even less about the SOP of breeding them. WHat should I look for if I wanna keep a few over winter. Considering they are midgets I'm assuming a SMALL tom and small females to go with him, cull out the big ones?? Is there anything else I should know, besides their taste??
