This site is so informative about managing our backyard flocks. My hen Nutmeg was saved because of all the valuable information I learned about de-worming. So thank you all! The one important topic I don't see much discussion about is how to rotate your wormers. I'm a bit confused about it and I'm sure others are too. I'm planning on worming twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall. I was planning on rotating Valbazen and Safeguard. I would use Valbazen in the spring and then safeguard in the fall. The following year would I repeat the same thing? Wouldn't you want to use something different in the spring and fall the following year? If I rotated these two, Valbazen would always be used in the spring and Safequard would always be used in the fall. Or could I use Valbazen in the spring and Safeguard in the fall, then the following year use Safeguard in the spring then Valbazen in the fall. If I did that I would be using the same wormer for a full year. Is that too long to be using one type of wormer? Should I add third wormer to my worming program? If so what do you suggest? I know worms built a resistance to the wormers if they aren't rotated. Can someone explain how this happens? What do you use in your worming program? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for everyone's help.
