Ok I've never had ducks etc before now I have 2 jumbo Pekins,2 battery hens and a racing pigeon (adopted lol) all living with my rabbit (loves them) and in the space of 2wks lol I'm learning fast but my main worry is what to use for redmite/fleas etc that would be suitable for everyone? I plan to use Verm-X for worming. Also is it bad to clean out the bedding area each day, I was thinking of using a small bit of bleach (is cleaning too often a bad idea!) Also I read you can add porridge oats to the feed to make it last longer, is this ok? Thanks, lots of ??? I'm absolutely loving them :)

Food grade Diatomaceous Earth works great for external parasites, safe for the whole bunch. :)

No advice on the wormer, sorry , I don't use it....

I would recommend AGAINST the bleach, the constant moisture may pose problems...a daily poop removal and a weekly deep clean should suffice...

Are they all housed together in one pen, where they all eat together?

You can look into buying a few bulk grains and a bale of alfalfa for bun bun :) mix it up, a 50 lb sack of oats is only bout 10 bucks and will last you months :)

Cleaning will depend on the space. Less space means more often cleaning. Do not need to use bleach. You need dry and a great deal of ventilation. If you are feeling like you need to clean all the time, I am thinking you may not have enough space or enough ventilation.

If you seriously have parasites, you need real pesticides to get rid of them. DE may work as a preventative (there is considerable question on this) but for a true infestation, you need the real stuff.

The best care for animals, is fresh water, commercial feed, clean bedding, space and ventialtion.

Thankfully no mites or anything, just being prepared!Great ideas 're cleaning, food etc had been topping up with fresh bedding each day and clearing it all out once a wk. Which seems fine. I have large wooden box for the ducks. A kennel for the hens and a carrier for the rabbit all in their shed. Only problem is the water feeder, I tiled an area to put it on to minimise damp but jeez the ducks fire it everywhere lol! Why do they poo in their bed? Didn't think they would!

Lol they do! They literally siphon it right out on to the floor... Ducks will be ducks; they clean out their nares that way, keep food moist etc... I finally got a planters tray from the greenhouse and put their water tub in that until they were brooded and had a pool... It's a tray about 3' by 3' and and inch deep, just enough to keep them from completely sopping their bedding... But poo they will lol; not much you can do there....
