1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’m new to chickens. Just inherited 19 laying hens with the property I rent. Just moved in about 2 weeks ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
19

(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, RI Reds

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Interacting with them. They all have different personalities and are fun to watch. And of course, the eggs.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Enjoying the outdoors, walking, researching, building and painting furniture.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have three young kids, ages 6, 4, and 2. No other pets. The 19 hens I have are 4 years old and older. They still lay eggs but thinking of starting anew with 10 baby chicks in a month or two.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Found byc through the Facebook group.

The former resident was my husband’s grandfather who bought and cared for the chickens. He moved into a nursing home out of state 2 years ago and his son (my father-in-law) and my brother-in-law took care of them until we moved in. Now they are ours to do as we please . We are renting the property from my father-in-law who owns in. Sorry, long explanation
