Hi there! I just joined this forum to ask a question about whether I should try to help an injured Canadian goose? My boyfriend and I are staying at a cabin by a marina here in TN about an hour from home. There’s an injured goose with what looks like a broken wing. Not angel wing, as I researched before leaving this post. It appears that there’s a wound under the wing in shoulder area and wing is hanging down as goose walks. She/he is all alone and hanging out next to river and in parking lot. I was able to get close and even pet it’s back a few times and feed it a little to try and gain some trust. By the time I got close to it it was dark out. I’m planning on looking for it in the morning and don’t know if I should try to intervene and take it to a wildlife rehabilitation? My boyfriend says I’m crazy and leave it alone but it breaks my heart to see it in this condition. I also see flies buzzing around sound and am afraid for them laying eggs in wound. Suggestions? There’s a wildlife rehabilitation center about an hour from here just not sure if they have space or take geese. What should I do? I was raised by a mother who saved every creature she came across. Advice??? Thanks!
