No, I wouldn't call it a squeal at all. More like a soft whimper. I just checked on her and she's laying quietly. I guess she makes that sound mostly after I feed her and put her down (though it's possible that I just pay more attention at that time). Next time I feed I'll try to get her on video.

Hmm. I'm not sure about that sound. I have a bird that squeals, but he seems to do it when I'm paying more attention to my other birds than him. It's good that she's making noise though. Chickens normally don't stop talking, so when they don't make any noise something is usually wrong.

Can you get her into a sling? Get her elevated and bring the food and water up to her so she can easily peck at it.
