yesterday we had a casualty. We lost half of our chickens. One was badly hurt. Some skin on her neck is torn and I believe there is also a little hole. I have used corn starch to stop the bleeding. But she cannot stand on her own, neither can she eat. I was able to dip her beak into the water bowl... it happened 18 hours ago. I wander if she can heal on her own. She has been with us for 7 years...

I have a Delaware rooster that got his neck severely damaged probably multiple muscle tears and the whole thing was bruised by as fox last July he wasn't able to lift his head for 2-3 weeks and had to be hand fed and watered for a month. As long as she drinks and once her neck heals a bit more eats she can make a full recovery.

Thank you so much. I am going to keep my spirits up and do as you suggested. Will post back for updates.

Believe it or not, as long as you can get her to eat and drink, she will survive. Chickens are extremely tough

At this point, 26 hours after the incident, she cannot eat but she is able to take in some water. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you so much for the advice. Will report back.

She is alive and recovered after 10 days! Now back to her happy home. Thanks for all who have responded.
