One of my guineas was attacked by a predator. Most of the wounds are superficial but it's eye is having issues. The swelling that it originally had has gone down some but it is still not opening the eye. I have been using the vetericyn plus spray. Is there anything else that would help it?

Oh poor thing! I'm so sorry.

@Sapphire Sebright do you by chance know anything that might help?

I don't unfortunately. The swelling might go down after a while, like a black eye, but I don't know how it will heal or if it will be able to see out of that eye as well. Keep her warm and safe with feed and water for now, and keep an eye on her.

@casportpony, do you know anyone who could help?

I’m sorry, poor thing! Has it opened its eye at all? Hard to know what can be done when you can’t see what the eye looks like. I second the vet option of possible. Hope it improves soon!

Today for the first time it has started to open it's eye a little. They eye itself doesn't look like it was punctured or anything. I will have to see if I can find a vet near me.

*Anecdotal Only* - I had one w/an eye similar in appearance after 2 males got in a fight & he was pecked in the eye. I used VetRx. It's a blend of essential and vegetable oils. Either it worked or coincidence of timing, but he was able to open his eye soon after and the swelling decreased. By the next day there was still discoloration from bruising but he was bright eyed again.
