I have a ramp leading up to my coop and several of the girls always roost at the coop opening on the ramp. I checked on them tonight and one girl was laying on the ground under the ramp on her side with her legs sprayed to her side and couldnt stand and not controlling her head well. It seems to be neurological. shes very sedate and keeping her eyes shut. I am thinking that she might have fallen off the ramp and injured herself. She is a tobunt polish. Im assuming there isnt much I can do for her but thought I would post and ask.
thanks
Jeff

I gave her 5 ml of water. Thinking I might give her more. Here is the pic but you cant tell anything without seeing how she moves are reacts.
thanks

I found her this way tonight but in her condition I dont think she would be able to. Being hopeful she improves overnight but am concerned she wont be any better.

Lovely hen.

I'd continue to give her sugar water to see if she perks up.

A video of her actions may be helpful - Upload Video To YouTube and Provide A Link.

If it seems neurological, start her on vitamin therapy. Give 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg to help with the uptake of E.

She's Polish, so may be more prone to neurological problems (hole in the head/crest). If she bonked her head or fell...

Hopefully she'll come around and its injury and not something more serious like Marek's disease.

Almost positive it is neurological. She is still alive this mourning but is not able to walk right. I set her on the floor and she flapped her wings and fumbled around backwards till she got into a corner. I tried to feed her scrambled eggs but she would not eat it. I gave her sugar water with B that I had here. I will pick up some E today. Should I force feed her raw egg with the Vitamin E or put pieces of cooked egg into her beak?
thanks

If she will eat on her own, that would be best, otherwise it may be necessary to syringe or tube feed her.

Ive been feeding her with a syringe with a raw egg and the vitamin e in it. Adding the b vitamin to some sugar water and also giving that to her. She seems a bit more stable today but a long way from being able to put out with the flock. Shes not able to eat on her own. Is there anything else that would be better to feed her?
thanks
Jeff
