Injured Hen

Is the yawn/tick where she is adjusting her crop? Just make sure that her crop is emptying overnight. If you take a small amount of her grower feed and add a lot of water, she might get more fluids. Glad that she is doing alright. You may want to document her healing with a picture now and then.

Sorry, I meant to attach a couple pictures from today.

Two week update:
- She seems to be doing well
- Eating & Drinking
- Has noticeably lost weight when I pick her up
- No signs of infection

I let her out a couple times to free range for 30 min-1 hour (supervised) with the rest of the flock. Moves around pretty well. Scratched and pecked a little.

I currently have some 9 week old’s outside in a separated coop/run next to the adults. Do you think it would be a good idea to put my injured one in with the youngsters? Or still keep her kept up inside my shop?

Her wounds still looks far from healing. She should be kept away from flies getting in her wound. I would place her inside a wire dog crate with food and water secured inside the coop and run with the flock her age when she is ready to go back. Supervised visits with them can be helpful to gradually reintegrate them. You might be able to make her a TShirt or hen saddle that loosely covers her wound. If the others see the wound as it looks in the lastest pic, she will probably get it pecked and injured. These are just some recommendations, and you can go from there.
