My chicken was limping this morning, I noticed her accessory metatarsus was swollen making it difficult to walk. She’s been laying on the ground most of the day. I brought her food and water. Any ideas??

It looks like it could be plantar pododermatitis “ bumble foot”
Segregate the hen in a pen or box so the others leave her alone to rest, wash and soak the foot and get a her on a antibiotic

Thank you for the feedback. I was reading in a post that I may have to do a minor surgery to extract the infection for her foot. I hope this isn’t the case, do you have any experience with this?

Me myself no. But I’ve watched, you gotta wrap her in a towel clean it very good, soak it in epsom salt , peel back that scab and clean all the cheesey nasty gunk out, then wrap with vet tape, keep her segregated with treats! Mine like warm oatmeal !
