Hi everyone. I have a 1-year-old Rouen hen who at some point yesterday injured her leg. She was limping around and falling on her face. She was obviously in painand trying to keep up with the other ducks. They are free range. I picked her up and there is no bumble but it does feel warm to the touch. I have her inside in a crate right now. How should I proceed?

Sorry to hear about your duck.

God made ducks good swimmers, not runner's so they often come down with these type of leg problems throughout the year. I would just set her in a soft bedded area where her mobility is going to be limited, let her relive the weight off her legs in a deep pool of water occasionally maybe administer some b vitamins for leg health, and if you feel she is in a little bit of pain you could dissolve one 325mg tablet into a gallon of water if you suspect there were no internal injuries with this.
