Injured quail- is this survivable?

Just walked out to all of my quail freaking out and throwing themselves against the wire like they were trying to escape the cage. I found one of them like this.

Do I need to cull him, or do you think he'll make it? Also, is it possible that this was a male on male fight (it happened to be one of my three males out of 21) or is it from hitting his head on the wire? The roof is about 20" tall.

They all seemed to calm down once I removed him.

That's very survivable. If you clean him up, spray him with a bit of Blu-cote and he'll be fine in a few days.

I put oil of oregano on my birds and keep them in the hospital cage in the house. Your bird should be fine

Oh, don't forget to keep him isolated and warm while he's healing.

That definitely looks like males fighting. The normal rule is one roo per pen, and he should have 3-5 hens. Roos will fight to the death.

Oh geez! I have a 14x2 ground pen with 21 total- 18 females and 3 males. Maybe I should just forget about fertility and keep only one male.

This also happens in a hen only pen.
So keep the roos.

It can happen with girls only too, so you may want to keep an eye on them. You're within the minimum of 1 square foot/bird, but if you have multiple males, more space is better.
